I snorted out loud at ‘a significant amount of money’. Ha! ;)

Haha. :) If I read the original document correctly, the villa was sold to a private company after failing to sell to a private owner.

It was sold for a “symbolic” price, not for a “significant” price…

Hm, my translation says “significant” not “symbolic”.

Don’t know what to tell you. Sorry. :)

        Hi Alexandra,
One more comment about the article.
If you watch the video of the NOS (Dutch Broadcasting Association)
(http://nos.nl/koningshuis/video/331287-willemalexander-verkoopt-villa-mozambique.html), you will hear and see in 0.44 the words “symbolisch bedrag” which means a “symbolic prize” (paid for the house). This is written in a letter by our prime minister to The House of Representatives.

        Greetings Liesbeth (from the Netherlands)

ps Love your site! I’m an addict!

Ah! Thank you, Lisbeth. :) I’m still learning Dutch (thanks to watching news from the Netherlands, books, and so forth), but thank you for the correction. I’ll fix it now.
        :)

        Still cracks me up!
Good on you learning Dutch. That’s how I’m trying to learn Danish, since Fred up and married someone else! ;)

I understand Danish (reading and listening), but speaking the language is a whole different ballgame. :)
