On August 24, 2011, H.R.H. Prince Joachim of Denmark talked about the upcoming birth of his four child.   “I am happy to tell you that we are expecting a child…”  When asked about his thoughts of being a soon-to-be father of four and what gender he hopes to have Prince Joachim replied:

It will be a hectic.  When I see the Crown Prince’s family, I know it will be a hectic. But I am happy anyway… it’s wonderful. We hope, above all, a healthy and happy child… with three boys I would also like to have a girl.

Billed Bladet journalist, Ken Richter, caught up with the crown princely couple of Denmark this afternoon just as they were about to board the National Guard Cutter boat to take them back to the royal yacht Dannebrog.  When asked about their thoughts upon hearing the news that Princess Marie was pregnant, the couple smiled and said, “It’s great news!”  Crown Princess Mary went on to say “We look forward [to the birth of the baby] very much and [we are happy] on their behalf.”  

And, that’s it.

Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark continued their annual summer cruise aboard the royal yacht Dannebrog, and for the heir to the Danish throne today’s events began in the early morning.

At 6:30am Crown Prince Frederik was at the Hanstholm Fish Auction to participate in, well, a fish auction.  Upon his arrival the crown prince was greeted by the Mayor Carol Kjelgaard Jensen and the auction master Jes Sørensen.  Soon it was time for the auction to begin.  As the guest auctioneer for the day, the crown prince officially opened the buying and selling of smelly fish and lobster by ringing a bell.

When the auction ended Crown Prince Frederik returned to the royal yacht Dannebrog.  The grand old ship left Hanstholm Harbor soon thereafter and is making its way to Hirtshals, Denmark.

And, the good news keeps on coming. On August 24, 2011, it was announced that Her Royal Highness Princess Marie of Denmark is pregnant with her second child!  Per the private secretary for Princess Marie and Prince Joachim, Kurt Bache:

Their Royal Highnesses Prince Joachim and Princess Marie have the pleasure of announcing that Princess Marie is pregnant.

The birth is expected to take place at the national Rigshospitalet hospital at the end of January 2012.

Congrats to Their Royal Highnesses Prince Joachim and Princess Marie of Denmark!
