H.R.H. Prince Joachim of Denmark Participates in the Classic Race Aarhus and Loses

On May 14, 2011, H.R.H. Prince Joachim of Denmark participated in the famous Classic Race Aarhus over the weekend and lost.

The prince, an avid race car driver, had a bit of trouble during this year’s race. Unfortunately, barely five minutes past the starting line and a little over two laps his 1965 Lotus-Cortina/Type-28 began to overheat.  Soon, smoke began to come out under the car hood.  Then the tiny ’65 Lotus-Cortina/Type 28 stalled and simply died.

As a result, Prince Joachim had a fit.  Out of sheer frustration, and like a kid whose parents refuse to give him candy, the prince threw his racing gloves on the ground, stomped his feet, and began to scream.

Meanwhile, Princess Marie, was mortified. According to various reports, she managed to calm the prince down and then all was well.    The next day, May 15, the beautiful French-born princess handed out awards to the drivers who participated in the race over the weekend.  Like trooper that she is, Princess Marie was all smiles and by all accounts seemed to have a good time during the ceremony.  Prince Joachim, on the other hand, was still slightly upset and pouting.
