A Regal State Dinner at Fredensborg Palace in Denmark: UPDATES GALORE!!!

This evening at Fredensborg Palace Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II threw a lovely gala dinner in honor of the South Korean state visit to Denmark.  The entire Danish royal family were at tonight’s event including H.R.H. Crown Princess Mary who was absent this morning when Mr. Lee Myung-bak, the South Korean President, arrived at the airport.

Nonetheless, all of the Danish royal women wore their tiaras and best gowns.  H.R.H. Princess Marie wore a daring V-neck white gown and her bridal tiara.  While, H.R.H. Crown Princess Mary wore a new dark blue long-sleeved dress and her wedding tiara.  Interestingly, the crown princess made some additions to her diamond wedding tiara whereupon she added pearls around the base as well as in-between each row of diamond spikes… if that makes any sense.

Once everyone had found their assigned seats at the dinner table, Her Majesty Queen Margrethe gave a nice speech.  She also noted that the crown princely couple will visit South Korea sometime in 2012.  Here is a snippet from her speech:

Mr President,

Next year, the Crown Prince and the Crown Princess are planning to visit Korea. I know that they are looking very much forward to this visit and to taking active part in ensuring that the warm Danish-Korean relations are being continued.
In wishing the Korean people continued happiness and progress, and in the hope that the good relations between our two countries will prosper and develop, I raise my glass together with the Prince Consort to propose a toast to the President of the Republic of Korea and Mrs Kim.

South Korean State Visit to Denmark: Day One

On May 11, 2011, the President of South Korea, Mr. Lee Myung-bak, arrived at Copenhagen Airport for a two-day state visit to Denmark.

The President, along with his wife, were greeted by Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II, H.R.H. Prince Henrik, H.R.H. Crown Prince Frederik, H.R.H. Princess Benedikte, and T.R.H.s Prince Joachim and Princess Marie.  Noticeably absent was the crown prince’s wife, Mary.  It is unknown why she did not attend the official greeting ceremony for the South Korean President, but one can only assume she was tending to her family at the palace or she was busy behind the scenes with official duties.

After the ceremony was over, Her Majesty invited Mr. Lee Myung-bak and his entourage to the lovely Fredensborg Palace, where he will stay until the visit is over.  After a quick rest, he along with H.R.H. Crown Prince Frederik participated in a wreath laying ceremony at the Jutlandia Monument in Langelinie.  Then is was off for a tour of the Big 8 House building in Ørestad.  And, finally the duo officially opened the Global Green Growth Institute in Risø.

Tonight there will be a regal gala dinner at Fredensborg Palace in honor of the South Korean President’s visit to Denmark.  According to the official website for the royal house of Denmark, Kongehuest.dk, H.R.H. Crown Princess Mary is scheduled to attend tonight’s dinner.
