According to the Swedish newspaper, Expressen, H.R.H. Princess Madeleine is currently back home in Stockholm, Sweden for a short visit. So what was the first thing she did when she arrived home? She ate. The Princess had a long lunch with her best friend, Louise Gottlieb, at some trendy restaurant near her pad in Stockholm. Any way, the main reason for her return to Sweden, well, apparently His Majesty King Carl Gustav is deeply concerned about Princess Madeleine’s future. Per the Expressen newspaper:
…the King summoned Princess Madeleine home for several reasons, but the one of the main reasons was to figure out what her plans are for the future specifically her summer plans.
The King wants some answers on a series of questions to Madeleine. The most important: Will she stay in America after the summer? The King also wants to know if Madeleine is planning to participate in any official royal duties. In April he will turns 65. Although summer is at present completely unplanned, the King is afraid that her and the family will be exposed to criticism if they do not have enough number of official duties in her public calendar. He does not want to risk Madeleine exposed to this criticism and is therefore keen that she takes a decision on her future. He just worried that she works for a bit that it won’t be enough.
‘There is nothing I know of ‘, said palace spokeswoman Bertil Ternert to the Expressen. ’However, I feel that we are in the communication department may be better able to signal and make the program the royal family has and especially Princess Madeleine. It’s something we should look over.’
Ternert says that Princess Madeleine, during her brief visit in Stockholm, will take the opportunity to work. ‘ The princess was on Monday at a meeting in Stockholm for Childhood.’
Madeleine leaves Sweden again later this week for a vacation with her best friend. In two weeks, Her Majesty Queen Silvia of Sweden will visit the United States, and it is certain that she will meet her daughter’s boyfriend Chris O’Neill.
It seems that His Majesty King Carl Gustav wants Princess Madeleine to quit dilly dallying in NYC, and figure out what the heck she is going to do with her life. The Swedish taxpayers should not support her lifestyle in NYC if she is not working for the people of Sweden. Does that make sense?

Relatively speaking, is the Swedish monarchy not very flush? I saw a picture of the “renovated farmhouse” where Carl Philip is shacking up with his girlfriend and it wasn’t very impressive. And if the king and queen are concerned that taxpayers will think Madeleine is goofing off in NYC, does this mean that the royal family is dependent upon public subsidies for their subsistence?
